HOLLINS Road-based Crown Paints hosted a sustainability week event to get employees thinking about how their actions affect the environment.
The event was attended by Blackburn with Darwen Council’s CONNECT service, a Government-funded scheme that promotes sustainable travel.
The three-year project aims to reduce reliance on driving and help people consider alternatives such as walking, cycling, car sharing and public transport.
Visitors to the event were invited to sign up for a free personal travel plan, a myPTP, that looks at their commute and suggests how it can be undertaken using sustainable travel.
Employees were also shown the benefits of the company’s car share scheme and the tax free cycle scheme, to which 120 staff have signed up.
Coun Tom Evans, lead member for regeneration at Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: “We are delighted that Crown Paints invited us to be part of their sustainability week and is taking such a pro-active approach.”
Rachel Demaine, sustainability technology officer at Crown Paints, said: “It is great to have the support of the CONNECT team to raise the profile of sustainable travel and help our employees explore their options.”
