Blackburn teenagers delight residents by sharing a smile

TEENAGERS spread the love in Blackburn as part of a heartfelt attempt to help residents overcome their worries.
Twelve 15 to 16-year-olds delighted passers-by with free hugs, and balloons, in King William Street, Blackburn, as part of their ‘share the smile’ initiative.
The one-off event comes at the end of several weeks of work through the Challenge Network, one of the national groups helping 15 to 17-year-olds do something positive for their local community as part of the government-led national citizen service programme.
Louisa Corrias, 15, said: “Happiness is important for wellbeing, so we thought giving people a hug would help make their day a more positive one, regardless of their worries.”
