Blackburn man hit wife with shoe during a row
6:00am Thursday 19th September 2013 in News
A 36-YEAR-OLD man who hit his wife with a shoe during a row was told he was close to going to prison.
Blackburn magistrates heard Asia Bibi had blood pouring from a head wound after the assault, which took place in front of a child.
Baddar Munir, 36, of Tanpits Road, Church, pleaded guilty to assaulting Mrs Bibi.
He was made subject to community supervision for two years, and a restraining order for six months, and was ordered to pay £145 costs.
The court heard Mrs Bibi said Munir was normally a good husband who didn’t shout, or get angry.
District Judge Jane Goodwin said she had taken into account the fact Munir was working with the community mental health team, who were providing intensive support.
She said: “This was a serious incident during which you used a shoe as a weapon within a family setting.
“If it wasn’t for the fact you had no previous convictions, you may have gone to prison.”
