Blackburn man skips court appearance
10:24am Monday 9th September 2013 in News
POLICE are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a man who failed to appear at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court to face charges of theft.
Ian Ashworth, 44, of Commercial Road in Blackburn, was arrested on August 10 and charged with two offences of burglary after two charity collection boxes were stolen from St Wulstan’s RC Church, Great Harwood, on August 4.
Ashworth was on court bail but left court before being sentenced and is now wanted by police.
Sergeant Eric Halford said: “Mr Ashworth was last sighted in the Colne area but we believe he is now in Brierfield. We’re appealing for him to hand himself in or for anyone who knows his whereabouts to call 101.”
