East Lancashire students to study 'silver network'
5:06pm Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
STUDENTS at the University of Central Lancashire are to study the ‘silver network’ of the county’s ageing population.
PhD students at UCLan have launched a students’ age concern society which aims to make closer links with older people’s networks and their student body.
The society aims to increase understanding among the students of UCLan concerning older people and the ‘silver economy’ Student Christos Pliakos said: “We hope to raise awareness of the contribution older people make to encourage local policymakers to take action.
“Ultimately we want to create a platform to encourage everything from social relationships to labour, demand on services and human needs.
“Young people are not aware of the opportunities and challenges that this will present.
“It is something students at UCLan felt was worth investigating.”
