East Lancs healthcare boss calls on public to take responsibility for their own health

SOCIAL care boss Olive Carroll has called on the public to take more responsibility for their own health.
East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group says it has become increasingly concerned about the pressure faced by GP surgeries and primary care centres, with the result that members are set to lobby the NHS to send more cash to the area.
But Mrs Carroll, director of personnel and social care at Lancashire County Council, told board members: “The general public should take more responsibility for their own health.”
And she added the warning: “Otherwise this won’t work, there isn’t an endless supply of resources.”
Dr Fiona Ford, another board member, said health professionals also have a role to play to encourage and help patients be more responsible about looking after their own day-to-day general health.
