Accrington prisoner on the run after absconding from Royal Lancaster Infirmary
8:30pm Saturday 17th August 2013 in News
AN escaped prisoner from East Lancashire is being hunted by police after going on the run from a county hospital.
David Osbaldeston, 20, slipped away from a prison officer while being treated at the Lancaster Royal Infirmary for a supposed overdose.
He had earlier claimed to staff at Lancaster Farms YOI that he had taken a drugs overdose, according to police.
Osbaldeston, originally from Accrington, was jailed for 30 months in September 2011 for assault and motoring offences.
But he was already well-known in Hyndburn after being given a three-year anti-social behaviour order for being in a string of public disorder outbreaks.
Det Insp Andrew Ellis, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are very keen to trace Osbaldeston and return him to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence.
“We would ask the public to be vigilant and report any sightings to the police - any details the public may have could be crucial.”
Osbaldeston is said to be white, around 5ft 10ins tall, with short light brown hair. He was last seen wearing a prison issue burgundy T-shirt, jeans and black trainers, with luminous green laces.
