Abusive Blackburn woman fined
2:28pm Friday 16th August 2013 in News
A 34-year-old woman who went to take her cousin away from a volatile situation outside a Blackburn pub ended up being arrested.
Blackburn magistrates heard police were investigating a serious assault at the Foresters, Fecitt Brow, and were speaking to people when Kelly Marie Brogan approached them and became ‘extremely vocal’. Asked to calm down, she responded with a torrent of abuse. Brogan, of Railton Avenue, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly, and was fined £100 with £105 costs.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said the initial incident had nothing to do with her. She had gone to get her hysterical cousin away from the police.
“She went to try and calm things down but got involved and was arrested,” he said.
