A KIDDERMINSTER man has been named as a runner-up in the first year scaffolding category at this year’s National Construction College (NCC) Awards.

The event took place at the NCC in Kings Norton, Birmingham.

As well as Mr Holloway, 37 other nominees were commended for their efforts in 15 categories, including general construction, roof slating and tiling and essential skills.

Mr Holloway, who is employed by GMK Scaff-Form, which is based in Clensmore Street, Kidderminster, said: “It is a real honour to be nominated for an award, as the competition here is so steep. It’s a privilege to be recognised as among the best in the country and I’d like to thank the training staff at the NCC for their help and support.”

Andy Walder, director of the NCC, said: “We are extremely proud of everyone who was nominated or who won an award at this year’s event, which are a great way to celebrate the achievements of our young workforce.

“The awards have allowed the NCC to showcase the young talent it helps to create year on year, bringing fresh blood to the construction industry.

“The National Construction College is run by CITB, the leading construction training provider in Europe, and is committed to delivering qualifications to meet the current and emerging needs of the industry.

“Trainees such as Charlie are testament to this and we wish him continued success in his chosen career.”

The awards, managed by the NCC in partnership with CITB, the Sector Skills Council and Industry Training Board, run across four events hosted at NCC construction colleges across the UK.
