SUNNYHURST councillor Dave Smith has welcomed his appointment as chairman of Blackburn with Darwen planning and highways committee.
He has chaired the committee twice before, amassing seven years’ experience at the helm.
And yesterday, Sudell LibDem Paul Browne said he was the right man for the job.
Coun Smith said: “We need to work out what the Government wants to achieve with its new policy. Then again I think the Government needs to work that out as well. It is one of the committees that brings in the public to meetings and the site visits give councillors chance to see various parts of the borough they may not otherwise visit.
“There is also new technology to deal with, such as wind turbines.”
