JAILED: Anthony Astley JAILED: Anthony Astley

A BLACKBURN man who was found to have indecent images of children on his computer has been jailed for 28 months.

Anthony Astley, 45, pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing images of children at Preston Crown Court on Monday.

In addition to his sentence, Astley will also be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

Astley was arrested in March 2011 after police raided his home on Broughton Close, Blackburn.

His computer and mobile phones were seized and after forensic analysis, were found to contain over 200 indecent images and videos of children.

DC Dave Dutton from the Engage Team said: “This has been a long and complicated enquiry and I am satisfied with the sentence.

“This is not victimless crime. The images show children being subjected to serious sexual abuse. Protecting vulnerable children is a key priority for the police and we will continue to do everything we can to ensure that those who view, possess and distribute indecent images of children are identified and brought to justice.”
