Three in court over Blackburn street violence

THREE men have appeared before Blackburn magistrates following a violent incident in Dukes Brow on Sunday night.

The court heard that metal wrenches and baseball bats were used as weapons as three brothers were trapped in their car after two other vehicles were used to block it in.

One of the brothers suffered a head wound after being struck with a spanner as members of an 11-strong gang tried to drag him from the vehicle. That victim was still hanging out of the car when it was eventually driven away after shunting the other vehicles out of the way.

Mikhail Ali Dinsi, 22, of Pleckgate Road, Umayer Nasir, 21, of Goodshaw Avenue, and Mohammed Razaq, 36, of Brookhouse Close, all Blackburn, were sent to Preston Crown Court charged with wounding Shammas Jabbar with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm, violent disorder, assaulting Imran Hussain and possessing an offensive weapon, a metal wrench, in a public place.

Dinsi and Razaq were remanded in custody pending their appearance at the Crown Court on April 3.

Nasir was bailed to the same date.

Eight other men arrested following the incident have been released on police bail.
