Tree planting scheme at Accrington and Rossendale college
3:04pm Tuesday 19th March 2013 in News
STUDENTS from Accrington and Rossendale College are planting 106 trees at its Broad Oak campus after a successful application to the Woodland Trust.
One of the trees in the project is a Royal Oak sapling grown from an acorn gathered from a Royal estate.
A class from Peel Park Primary School is also helping with the planting.
The scheme is part of a Woodland Trust programme which offers 4,000 free tree packs to schools, communities and youth groups.
Abigail Coles, project co-ordinator for the college said: “Accrington and Rossendale College has shown a real commitment to the environment over the years and we are aware that we’re blessed with a particularly beautiful campus.
“This is a wonderful programme which allows a wide cross-section of the community to get involved and have a real, hands on, practical involvement in making their communities better places to live and we’re proud to be taking part in such a positive initiative.”
