A NIGHTCLUB bouncer had a street bollard hurled at him when he tried to stop two "drunk" men getting into the premises, a court heard.
Kane Duckworth, 26, caught victim Mohammed Nawaz on the shoulder. He escaped injury.
Security engineer Duckworth, who was celebrating his birthday, could not remember much about what he had done but accepted it when he was shown CCTV coverage, Burnley Magistrates were told. Duckworth, from Brownhill Drive, Blackburn, admitted assault by beating on February 22.
He was fined £155, with £75 costs and a £20 victim surcharge, by the Bench, who said it was an isolated incident.
Carl Gaffney, prosecuting, said the defendant and a friend had been trying to get into Lava and Ignite, but had been refused, presumably because of their drunken state.
They protested and Duckworth remonstrated longest and loudest.
He got in to an argument with doorman and threw the bollard. The defendant had one previous conviction.
Sara Lyle, for Duckworth, said it had been his birthday and his behaviour was clearly out of character. He had just split up with his girlfriend. She said: “He started to get himself in a situation with bouncers. He shouldn’t have done it and is genuinely remorseful."
