Darwen firm Crown Paints launches recycling scheme

PEOPLE in Darwen are invited to clear out their sheds and donate surplus paint and empty cans back to Crown Paints.

The firm in Hollins Road launched the two-week Kick Out The Can campaign last week giving people the chance to return their paint and cans to be recycled.

The company will then process the paint and donate it to community projects while reprocessing and recycling the containers.

The donations are being managed by Groundwork Pennine Lancashire, which Crown Paints has worked closely with on a wide range of sustainability projects.

Mark Lloyd, Crown Paints sustainability manager, said: “We were delighted to launch our recycling campaign. It is a major initiative for us and something that will make a real positive difference to the environment, and many people across the country this year. Most households have old paint containers and tins around the home and people are not always sure what to do with them.”
