Top award for Blackburn shopping centre security chief

A SHOPPING centre security chief’s hard work and dedication paid off after he was handed a top award.
Gareth Stead Clark, who is employed by Vision Security Group (VSG) and has worked at The Mall in Blackburn for five years, won the award for Best Use of Technology’ in the North West heat of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Regional Security Personnel Awards.
Since being promoted to Security Supervisor in 2010, Gareth has taken a leading role within the team and worked alongside Mall management on several technology based projects. These included appraisals and enhancements for the CCTV system and internal security database management and improvements.
Loraine Jones, general manager at The Mall, said: “We are all delighted to hear that Gareth has won this award and it was thoroughly deserved.
“He is a very valued member of the team here and his contributions have made a real difference.”
Mr Clark said: “I was really surprised when I found out I had won and feel a great sense of pride to know that management and colleagues all took the time to nominate me.
“I am a firm believer that people should put 100 per cent effort into whatever they do and gaining recognition for this is fantastic.”
Mr Clark will now be put forward to the national judging phase of the awards.
