CHERRY Tree resident Theresa McGovern has been ordered to pay £215 for not cleaning up after her dog.
She was charged with failing to clear up mess left by her dog.
On August 6 last year, a dog warden witnessed one of Mrs McGovern’s dogs fouling in Pleasington playing fields.
The mess was not removed so a fixed penalty notice was issued which was not paid.
The case was brought by Blackburn with Darwen Council under local legislation dating from 2008 Mrs McGovern was fined £50, ordered to pay £150 costs and £15 victim surcharge by Blackburn magistrates on February 22.
Councillor Dave Smith, borough lead member for environment, said: “Not cleaning up after your dog is disgusting and filthy.
“The majority of dog owners are responsible and pick up their pet's mess but there is a minority who are being selfish.
“We will fine people we catch who let their dogs foul our streets and parks.
“If you know someone who is not cleaning up after their dog, please tell us.”
