Blackburn drug addict asks to be sent to jail

A 32-YEAR-OLD drug addict asked magistrates to send him to prison so he could get his life back on track.

Blackburn magistrates heard Mark McCallister had committed four theft offences in a short period of time while he was subject to a suspended prison sentence.

Keith Rennison, defending, said: “He accepts it is his second breach of that order and he fully accepts you will send him to prison today.

“He is of no fixed address, he is using drugs again and he believes the only way he can get back on an even keel is to serve a prison sentence.”

McCallister pleaded guilty to four theft charges. He was jailed for a total of 22 weeks including activation of the 12 weeks suspended.
