THE post office in Clayton-le-Moors has been temporarily closed for refurbishment.

Bosses at the Pickup Street branch said it was being modernised to include three serving counters. When it re-opens, on March 11, bosses plan to extend weekend opening hours by five hours on a Saturday.

While work is carried out, customers are advised to use branches in High Street, Rishton, and Abbey Street, in Accrington.

The modernisation plan is part of a three-year investment programme by the Post Office to convert around 6,000 branches throughout the UK.
