Darwen headteacher's plea on parking complaints

A PRIMARY school is asking parents to park further away after complaints from residents.

In a newsletter to parents of children at St Barnabas’ CoE Primary School, in Knowlesley Road, Darwen, the headteacher said people had complained about cars parked near their homes.

Alison Howarth said residents in Knowlesley Meadows, Kirkdale Close and Knowlesley Road had been affected.

She said: “Residents are rightly aggrieved that their roads are being used as car parks and that they cannot get to their homes.

“None of the roads in the vicinity of the school are wide enough to allow cars to turn around in them without endangering the lives of our children as they are doing so.

“Please consider how you would feel if this continually happened in your road or how you would feel if you knocked over and injured a child.

“Perhaps the best place to leave cars would be on Bolton Road or Cemetery Road, where the roads are wider, then walk the remainder of the distance to school.

“Or better still, leave them at home and let’s start using legs instead of wheels.”

Or even better people who choose to buy a house near a school should stop whining about it getting busy at around 8.45 and 3.30, As the school was there first what on earth did they expect when they moved there?

If both parties could consider the others position there may be a compromise.....peopl
e dropping children off consider other people so many selfish motorists out there that think they have the right to park as near to school as they can even if means blocking a drive or road....and the residents the school was there before your house so should have realized what happens at 3pm and 9am every day term time......and accept this.

If schools expect parents and children to walk to and from there, make the teachers do the same.

Sorry, what was that ? - someone calling me back to reality.

Well quite, What on earth are we thinking about when we PARK LEGALLY on the road so that our children can be sent to school, Oh and while i'm at it if parking is such a problem why do some TEACHERS park on the road outside as well, I hope they have time for teaching in between their hypocritical outbursts and attempts to fleece us for every spare £ we have, Why not have a fundraiser for a bigger car park?

Typical selfish numb as nuts attitude approach until it happens on your door step,
Then you can join King Fabulous the Arrogant crying like a spoilt child with a Big Fat Dummy in his or her mouth what goes around comes around with people like you.
No, I do not have anything to do with the residents but I cannot stand hypocrites like you who would not put up with this if it were on their door step.

Hmmmm, I see that I still occupy the lofty heights of the moral 'High Ground' while the bitter plebs (Stop Backenders I do mean you!) wail and gnash their poorly kept teeth, If you feel so strongly about people legally and safely parking where they have every right to then send a letter to your MP and try and get the rules changed, Now kindly be about your business you tawdry little man.

Get your dummy out that is about right, its people like you that look down on others thinking there nothing but **** on your plastic shiny shoes. You are so for up your own backside with your own selfish views of others that you cannot see what a big tool you are.
Your high and mighty attitude points to a spoiled selfish little figure of a man or Plastic Barber Doll, which ever, who thinks they are above everybody else. The name says it all I do believe.
PS - do not forget to put your plastic teeth back in after spitting out your Big Fat Dummy.

Having just read your thoughtful and measured response I can assure you that I have NEVER worn plastic shoes and the nearest I have ever got to a 'Plastic Barber Doll' is a Barber jacket (did you perhaps mean Barbie doll?) anyhow your remarks only serve to show you cannot sustain an reasoned argument, However I do not blame you for this as it is probably a result of your schooling which I presume was, at best, to a secondary modern standard, No offence

Parking outside the school shouldn't really bother the residents in the morning, as most will be at work and the retired can probably go out at anytime, but I can understand they are not to happy about being unable to park outside their houses after school..............
but the school was there first and surely they know what time all the parents cars are going to be there.....so either stay in or don't come back in that time period...........it is not just this school the residents complain about the parent parking at ST Pauls Hoddlesden.........T
here is no real answer or remedy to this...........just work together...........b
ut people will always find things to complain about.......and if it's not to far, then walk it will do the kids a lot of good.............JNT
