Friends group boosts numbers at Darwen library

COUNCIL chiefs paid tribute to the Friends of Darwen Library after it was revealed user numbers had risen.

Blackburn with Darwen Council’s leisure chief Damian Talbot told the executive board meeting in the town: “Usage of Darwen Library has gone up by three per cent.

“This is good news in difficult times. The library friends group have had a lot to do with this.”

Council leader Kate Hollern told John East, chairman of the Friends of Darwen Library, who was at the meeting at the town hall: “I would like to thank you and your group for all you have done.

“The Friends have done a great deal to support and promote Darwen library.”
