Before we zipped up our tents for the last time and faced the painful reality that Glastonbury 2015 was finally over, there was one more treat in store for us… The Who.

The legendary band were bestowed with the honour of not only closing the show, but the Pyramid Stage, standing in the same spot the World’s Greatest Rockstar (aka Kanye West) had stood just yesterday.

“Here we are again. We’ve got a lovely simple job to do tonight,” Roger Daltrey joked, as he stepped on stage with a cup of tea (yes, really).

“Which is to send you home happy… and maybe a bit deaf.”

Kicking off the proceedings was Who Are You (also recognised by many as the theme tune to the television crime drama CSI) though the band’s choice of opener may not have gone down quite as well as they’d probably anticipated.

Nevertheless the ageing rockers managed to pick the crowds back up with firm favourites including The Seeker, I Can See For Miles and My Generation…to an audience born into a generation who probably aren’t even familiar with the hit. The irony was not lost.

While many viewers were confidently Kanye-bashing, declaring their undying support of The Who and their incredible performance, others were questioning the longevity of the band, branding them an anticlimatic headliner for the finale.

Just before they wrapped up an unforgettable evening, they couldn’t resist but throw some MAJOR shade at Mr West himself. And you gotta love them for it.

“We’re going to send you home now with a rebellious: ‘oh yeah, who’s the biggest rockstar in the world?’.”
