Kate Mara is in talks to star in sci-fi thriller Morgan.

The House Of Cards actress is attached to a role in the film, which will be the directorial feature debut of Sir Ridley Scott’s son, Luke.

Sir Ridley will produce Morgan, which has been written by Seth Owen, alongside his Scott Free partners Michael Schaefer and Elishia Holmes.

The story, which was on the 2014 Black List, focuses on a corporate risk-management consultant, who has to make the decision whether to kill off an at-risk artificial being.

Kate is currently shooting sci-fi drama The Martian, which Sir Ridley is directing. She will next be seen as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four alongside Michael B Jordan and Miles Teller.

Luke – who previously directed sci-fi short Loom and worked as a second unit director on his father’s Biblical drama, Exodus: Gods And Kings – isn’t the first family member to follow in his father’s footsteps and get behind the camera.

His sister Jordan directed the 2009 drama Cracks, which starred Eva Green and Juno Temple, while brother Jake made Welcome To The Rileys, starring James Gandolfini and Kristen Stewart.
