Naya Rivera left some members of a TV audience stunned when she claimed that showering every day was “a white people thing”.
The Glee star made the comments on Rosie O’Donnell’s panel talk show The View while speaking about her new husband, Ryan Dorsey, who she married in July 2014.
After another panel guest Nicolle Wallace admitted she showered three times a day, Naya chipped in: “White people shower a lot more than ethnics. I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing.
“My mom is half black, half Puerto Rican. She showers every day, so I can say this. But I’m now married to a white man.”
Naya continued: ” He showers a lot, like two, three times a day. I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’.”
Of her own shower habits, the actress revealed: “So the study says, a dermatologist says you are only supposed to shower once or twice every three days, so I’m right on the mark.”
Some viewers took the comments as a joke, while others were offended at Naya’s stereotyping.
Spencer Pratt took it all in good humour…
Others were a little more confused…
But Naya tweeted that everyone should take her remarks with a pinch of salt…
