It was a moment that seemed unlikely to happen but apparently The Interview is set to hit cinemas next month.

Amidst the chaos of the high-profile hack, Sony Pictures initially called off the film’s release after some cinema chains decided to drop the flick.

But The Interview soon began screening in selected cinemas in the States and has made about $5 million (£3.3 million) since it hit the screens on Christmas Day.

The news of the film’s impending UK launch came as Sony revealed it’s raked in more then $31 million (£20.5 million) from its online release – and it’s only been out for two weeks.

The studio has steadily increased the outlets for fans to catch film starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, adding various on-demand and streaming options through YouTube and iTunes and Sony claims its has been rented, streamed or purchased 4.3 million times.

Let’s see if UK cinemas can add to that!
