Andrew Scott is rumoured to be going from Sherlock nemesis to Bond villain.
The Sherlock star, who plays the detective’s nemesis Moriarty in the BBC sleuth series, is tipped to be playing the baddie in the new 007 film.
According to the Daily Mirror, the 38-year-old Irish actor has been hand-picked for the role in the 24th Bond film, the cast and title details of which will be shared tomorrow (December 4).
Andrew would share the screen with returning cast members Daniel Craig as the secret agent, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear.
Oscar-winning Austrian star Christoph Waltz, Guardians Of The Galaxy actor Dave Bautista and French model Lea Seydoux have also been linked to the upcoming Bond movie.
A source told the paper: “Casting directors thought he was perfect to play a baddie and they wanted to use his existing Sherlock profile and amp it up to the next level.”
Sam Mendes is returning to direct Bond 24, which will be released in October 2015.
If the rumours are true, Andrew would follow in the footsteps of Javier Bardem, Mathieu Amalric and Mads Mikkelsen who have taken on Daniel’s Bond in recent films.
