Jared Leto is thought to be in talks about playing The Joker in the upcoming comic adaptation Suicide Squad.
The Dallas Buyers Club Oscar winner is said to be considering the role in David Ayer’s Warner Bros project, according to The Wrap.
Neither he or Warners has commented on the rumour, but the film would see him join a cast of supervillains given a chance at redemption from the government by taking on a dangerous mission likely to kill all of them.
The film is based on the DC Comic and Ryan Gosling had originally been approached to play The Joker, but apparently didn’t want to sign up to a multiple-film franchise.
Meanwhile, Collider is reporting that Wolf Of Wall Street star Margot Robbie has been cast as The Joker’s partner-in-crime Harley Quinn, a psychiatrist that he managed to manipulate into being infatuated with him, who has not appeared in film before but was in Batman: The Animated Series.
Jesse Eisenberg is expected to reprise his role as Lex Luthor for the film, and Tom Hardy and Will Smith are also in negotiations for roles.
Suicide Squad is due to be released in 2016.
