Newsreader Michael Buerk ended up rapping about his pants – following a lesson from chart star Tinchy Stryder.

The broadcaster admitted he wouldn’t trouble Jay Z in the charts after his efforts.

The 68-year-old – who had looked set to walk out of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! at one stage – confessed he knew nothing about rap during a discussion with Tinchy in the Australian jungle.

“I know zero about rap, thought it was done by sinister looking men in hoods and shades,” he said. “I don’t really like the sound of it, don’t understand it, there is no tune to it. Is it all about style?”

Rapper Tinchy – whose hits have included Take Me Back and Never Leave You – decided to end his new friend’s ignorance and advised him to use rhythm and flow.

So Michael chanted: “I’m Michael and I’m real cool, stuck in the jungle, feel a real fool. My pants are red and I have no bed.”

He went on to include references to his fellow contestants, adding: “Jimmy’s the name and football is his game. How about we dream of curry but we don’t mean Edwina; We’re keen on Kendra but wish she was cleaner.”

Michael wondered whether he needed to sound “edgy”, but his personal rap tutor told him to be natural.

Afterwards he pointed out how his mentor thought it “would be more original if I kept my existing and pompous, middle-class, stuck-up and middle-aged prig persona”.

Jay Z

“I don’t think that Jay Z is quaking in his hand-tooled Gucci boots at this moment but at the end of a few days who knows what may happen,” Michael added.

And Tinchy concluded: “Michael is a cool dude. He’s so uncool that he’s cool.”

On a darker note, Michael told his fellow contestants about his dislike of disgraced presenter Jimmy Savile.

He said he wished he had pushed the former Radio 1 DJ, whose years as a predatory and prolific sex abuser came to light following his death, into the sea when he had an opportunity.

Discussing things they wish they had done with the others, he said: “My other regret is standing at the rail of the QE2 with Jimmy Savile who I personally disliked intensely before everyone else did, and my regret is not tipping him over the rail while I had the chance.”

Further tensions have erupted in the camp with Vicki Michelle and Melanie Sykes snapping at each other following a misunderstanding over an eyeliner.
