Phillip Schofield is planning a 24-hour TV presenting marathon to raise money for charity.

The 52-year-old This Morning host will present shows non-stop for 24 hours on December 1 in aid of ITV's annual charity appeal Text Santa.

Schofe tweeted: "So it's out! I'm doing a 24 hour live non-stop broadcast on @itv to launch @ITVTextSanta ... Can't actually remember the moment I said yes."

Phillip's broadcast endurance test will begin with This Morning on December 1 and go right through to the start of the next day's show, only stopping for toilet breaks.

According to the Daily Mirror, Phillip sent fellow former children's TV presenter Andi Peters a text which said "ITV wanted to find a new and different way to launch this year's Text Santa and they asked me if I wanted to film 24 hours, non-stop and broadcast.

"I took some persuading but as we get closer I'm getting more and more excited - text me again on the day at 4am and I'll tell you if it was a good idea. We've got a few things planned and one or two challenges. First and foremost I'm doing this for the charities."

In 2011, Chris Moyles and his former Radio 1 team raised more than £2 million for Comic Relief when they hosted a show for 52 hours.

After reaching their 50-hour target, Chris said: "We're going to carry on for another two hours. Why? I have no idea."

Other TV presenters to have put in impressive non-stop hosting stints include the BBC's David Dimbleby, who broadcast for 18 hours during the May 2010 general election, and Sky News anchor Kay Burley who presented live for 13-and-a-half hours while the Duchess of Cambridge was giving birth to Prince George last July.
