Madonna has been joined by Kate Moss as she celebrated her birthday.

The queen of pop, who turned 56 on August 16, threw a glitzy 1920s Great Gatsby-style bash at a villa in Cannes, where she partied with her close friends and family.

The Material Girl singer shared the pictures on Instagram, which included a photo of model Kate posing with her, with the accompanying caption: " Bow down B*****s! #whatitfeelslikeforagirl."

Madonna, who looked the belle of the ball in a beaded flapper dress and a sparkling headband, was also joined by her children - 14-year-old Rocco, and Mercy and David, both eight.

Rocco, her son with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, was seen dressed in a smart black-and-white blazer, while adopted daughter Mercy, in a beaded dress and lines of pearls, posed beside the M display.

"Best Night Ever! #livingforlove," Madonna wrote.

The songstress acted the proud mum with David, who wore a black suit with a bow tie and a black top hat.

"My escort for the evening! #swag #boom #livingforlove," she posted.

Madonna wrote: "Grazie infinite for the enchanting evening!!!" alongside a photo of her posing beside fashion designers DSquared2 - Dean and Dan Caten.

The star reminded everyone of her younger days with a flashback naked photo on Instagram on the day. She wrote: "In my Birthday suit! The girl cant help it! Thanks for all your good wishes!!!!"
