AN elderly couple escaped uninjured after their car collided with another and toppled onto its side.
The couple were travelling in their Nissan at 10.15pm on Friday when they were in collision with a Mini at the junction of Market Street and Blackburn Road in Church, Accrington.
The impact to the side of the Nissan caused it to topple over onto its side.
A fire crew from Hyndburn attended the scene and managed to free the husband and wife without cutting the car open.
Crew manager Liam Barker said: "We managed to release the gentleman from the driver's seat quite quickly, but his wife was trapped in the passenger seat.
"Fortunately we managed to get the car back on its wheels and we released her without having to use any cutting equipment."
The couple was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital by ambulance where they were treated for shock.
The driver and passenger of the Mini, a couple in their 20s, were unharmed.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
